52 Week Photo Project [Week 9]

Now I remember why I was so glad to finish my 365 project. The pressure of getting a good shot for the theme can really get you down.

Last week's Paint the Moon theme was "framed." I had a few good ideas but they all required lots of natural light. Of course, the only time I'm home when there's light coming through the windows is on the weekend, so I had to wait until then. I was pretty busy so by the time I settled down to try out my ideas it was already late Sunday afternoon, the last day to post my photo. Turns out all of my ideas were horrible failures so I found myself rushing around in the rapidly dying light trying to come up with another idea. Any idea would do, really. So this is what I came up with at the last minute. I don't think poor little Punky will ever forgive me for this indignity.

And before you go thinking she's an unnaturally patient and willing model, I will confess that there was a little Photoshop magic involved. I actually took the picture holding the glasses up a few inches in front of her face, then put the glasses down and took a few pictures so I could edit my hand out. I know from the time I tried to make her wear a chicken hat that she is not at all cooperative about wearing a costume. I do still feel a little guilty about this:

A Photo A Day [Days 372 & 373]

I went a little cat crazy this morning and took over 200 photos of my critters. Of course, being cats they weren't so good about sitting still or looking at the camera so only a handful are usable. I narrowed them down to my two favorites and simply couldn't decide between the two, so I took advantage of some gaps in my project to upload two today.

Punky knows she rules the roost around here. In this shot she's surveying her kingdom and her humble subjects:



Loofy has been featured in my project before but never this well. Why, she hardly looks cross-eyed at all in this shot! Now if only her whiskers weren't so long I could have fit them all into the frame. She's like the Wilford Brimley of the cat world.

A Photo A Day [Day 270]

Instead of being responsible and staying in tonight to save money and come up with a decent idea for a photo, I instead dragged my husband out to see Bridesmaids. While I don't think it's the greatest comedy ever made I laughed so hard I cried. At the dumb part I thought I wouldn't laugh at at all, in fact. So it was a nice break from my usual routine. Even if it means you're stuck with yet another picture of one of my cats.

Day 101

This is Punky, my first born. I found a poem online that perfectly captures her:

Day 102

Thawing out cranberries for a pie I plan to make in honor of National Pastry Day. Sure, it'll be a bit late since that's today but it's a great excuse to bake something unhealthy. I'm being patriotic or something. While some of these cranberries have seen better days at $0.25 per bag I'm not about to complain about a few shriveled berries.

This week's theme: up close
